AZ-800: Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure
This AZ-800 course gives IT Directors and Team Leads a standard way to close skill gaps across AD DS, Hyper-V, DNS/DHCP, file services, and Azure-connected workloads. Completion exports in Team Reporting give Training Managers a clear record of who has covered each block. Built for systems administrators and Windows Server administrators with 2–3 years of experience, the training covers installing domain controllers and building trusts, configuring Microsoft Entra Connect Sync and Cloud Sync, and troubleshooting Group Policy by isolating computer-side and user-side settings. Admins also gain the ability to reach servers securely and keep workloads and file services available, so teams handle hybrid connectivity and continuity with fewer escalations and less reliance on outside help, using PowerShell Remoting, PowerShell Direct, SSH, Azure Bastion, Hyper-V Replica and clustering, Azure File Sync, and DFS. Virtual labs let your admins practice domain controller work before it touches production. Microsoft retired the AZ-800 exam on September 30th, 2026, so teams can assign this course for the hybrid administration skills rather than a credential.

Frequently asked questions about IT Operations training
Common questions IT directors ask when evaluating IT Operations training for their team.
Which roles and experience levels does the IT Operations path serve?
The path covers help desk staff moving into systems roles, junior and mid-level systems administrators, and experienced Windows, Linux, and virtualization admins. Foundational courses such as LPI Linux Essentials and Microsoft 365 Fundamentals sit alongside intermediate and advanced courses such as AZ-801, LPIC-2, and Advanced PowerShell Automation.
Which certifications do these courses prepare a team for?
Courses align to Microsoft AZ-800, AZ-801, MS-102, MD-102, MS-700, MS-203, MS-721, and MS-900; LPI Linux Essentials, LPIC-1, and LPIC-2; Red Hat RHCSA (EX200); CompTIA Server+ (SK0-005); VMware VCP-DCV 2024 and the vSphere Foundation exams; and Associate Google Workspace Administrator. The vendor issues each certification; CBT Nuggets prepares the learner for it.
How should a Training Manager sequence a team path?
Start newer staff on a baseline such as Windows Server Administration: Core Infrastructure for Enterprise IT or LPI Linux Essentials. Then layer role-specific courses: Active Directory and AZ-800 before AZ-801 for Windows admins, LPIC-1 before LPIC-2 for Linux admins, and foundational PowerShell before Advanced PowerShell Automation.
How much time should we plan per learner?
It depends on the course. Hyper-V Tutorial runs about 4.7 hours, Advanced PowerShell Automation about 17.5 hours, AZ-801 about 20 hours, and AZ-800 about 39 hours. Many courses are split into standalone skills, so Team Leads can assign only the sections a role needs.
Does the training include hands-on practice?
The CBT Nuggets platform pairs on-demand video training with virtual labs, practice exams, and pre- and post-assessments, so admins can practice tasks and check readiness before a certification attempt. IT Trainerbot also answers day-to-day questions with a timestamped link to the training video where the topic is covered.
How do we track progress and support onboarding or audit needs?
Team reporting shows per-learner progress and completion, cohort and group views, and completion exports you can use as audit evidence. Internal Training can also turn your own runbooks and onboarding checklists into courses you assign and track alongside this catalog.
