For IT leaders
What IT leaders need to know before assigning this course
Teams often becomes the hub for chat, meetings, files, and calling before IT has governance in place. That leaves guest access, data sharing, and call routing configured inconsistently, with no one clearly responsible.
For IT leaders: This course prepares IT administrators, Microsoft 365 support staff, and help desk leads to run Teams as a governed platform. It covers:
- Compliance and data protection: Purview audit logs, retention and threat policies, sensitivity labels, DLP, and Conditional Access. Communication compliance and insider risk management require E5, A5, or G5 licensing.
- Rollout and change management: Advisor for Teams for planning deployments, licensing rules for guest versus external access, and team, meeting, and calling policies that change what users experience. Plan to communicate those changes before applying them.
- Operations and monitoring: PowerShell and Microsoft Graph for repeatable Teams administration tasks, including managing teams, members, and channels, plus usage reporting and troubleshooting for governance, security, and support investigations.
Time investment: Each skill runs about 45 minutes to just over an hour, so a learner can finish one per working session. Assign the full path to staff pursuing MS-700. Assign individual skills, such as calling or external collaboration, to staff who own those areas.
Knowledge-check questions in the course reinforce exam-blueprint topics. CBT Nuggets Playlists and Team Reporting let Team Leads sequence assignments and track progress toward certification.
