Our Story
Started by a trainer. Built for learners.
In 1999, Microsoft trainer Dan Charbonneau noticed a massive flaw in IT training: pulling an engineer off the floor for a week-long boot camp simply didn't work. By the time they needed the skills six months later, the knowledge was gone. Dan began recording his lessons so engineers could learn between support tickets. That simple idea grew into CBT Nuggets.
Today, from our headquarters in Eugene, Oregon, to screens across the globe, we are still chasing the moment that inspired Dan: the second something clicks and a learner realizes, “I can do this.”
Our approach
Expert-led. Practical. Human.
Industry experts who teach
Our trainers are on staff — not a freelance marketplace. They bring real-world technical experience to every course, and when a technology or an exam changes, they rebuild it. Every lesson is taught by someone who has done the work and can make complex concepts clear.
Built for production, not just for paper
Certifications are great, but keeping your network running is better. Our hands-on virtual labs and practice exams help you move beyond watching videos. You get to break things and fix them in a safe environment, so what you learn shows up in the infrastructure you support, not just on a certificate.
Built for real life
One library covers onboarding, upskilling, and certification for a whole team, with the reporting a manager needs to see it landing. And anyone on that team can learn at their own pace and come back when they need a refresher.
