What is an AWS Service Catalog?
An AWS Service Catalog is an entity that lets you create and manage the catalogs of IT services that have been approved for AWS. The services in these catalogs can include virtual machine (VM) images, servers, software and databases. They can even include complete multi-tier application architectures.
With an AWS Service Catalog, you can manage, from one location, all the services that you've deployed as well as applications, resources and metadata. These catalogs can help your organization meet both governance and compliance requirements. They can also allow your users to deploy only the services that they really need.
The AWS Service Catalog AppRegistry can help your organization better understand the AWS resources that they are using from the context of their applications. With it, you can define and manage both your applications and their metadata. You can use it to track application cost, performance, security, compliance and operational status.
