New: Citrix Netscaler 10.5 1Y0-253
Need to set your team up with secure VPN remote access? In his latest course, "Citrix Netscaler 10.5 1Y0-253," trainer Keith Barker provides the concepts and training to install and configure a Citrix NetScaler load balancer and gateway in a virtualization environment such as Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp 7.x.. In the 3 hour course, Keith covers topics such as load balancing traffic flow, gateway policies, traffic switching, and more.

Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in this technology? What value does it bring? Secure VPN remote access, as well as load-balancing, are common features found in production networks. The Citrix Netscaler provides both of these features, and integrates especially well with a Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp environment. This CBT Nuggets course on the Netscaler is designed to shorten the ramp up time for a company that wants to implement the Netscaler in their environment.
Q: From a student-perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course? My intent was to take an individual who is familiar with networking. but brand new to the Netscaler, and walk them through the basic functionality and configuration to get it up and running in their network.
Q: Any outside-of-the-box tips for students to get the most out of your course? Lab it up! The absolute best way to internalize and validate your knowledge regarding the Netscaler is to get the hands-on practice working with it. Citrix offers evaluation licenses, and building a practice lab can be done using a single computer that is running a hypervisor.
Q: What's one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course? One application is remote SSL VPN access that allows external users to access internal resources including virtualized applications and desktops. Load balancing across multiple resources is also a real-world application of the Netscaler.
Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create? I really enjoyed the Nuggets where the demonstrations worked the first time. There are so many variables involved, including browsers that are caching information, DNS, active directory, etc. that can cause a solution not to work. So in the Nuggets where the stars all aligned and worked on the very first try, those were my favorite Nuggets. In the final videos, the learner will rarely see a configuration that does not work, due to the pre-recording testing and verification that I do before I begin the recording. The result of all the pre-testing I do, allows me just to include working configurations and scenarios in the final product. I also verbally remind the learner in these Nuggets, regarding the pitfalls that they would want to watch for to avoid problems during implementation.
Q: What roadblocks did you come across when creating this training and how did you overcome them? One of the biggest challenges I had were various browsers caching information, which can negatively impact an otherwise beautiful demonstration of load balancing across multiple web servers.
Q: What's the ONE thing you hope learners take away from this training? The intent is that a learner, after enjoying this course, will fill comfortable with the basic building blocks of the Netscaler, and will have practiced hands on in their own lab environment to verify their skills in working with the Netscaler.
