What is Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Sync?
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Sync is a Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) service that allows two distinct CUCMs to swap their unique content such as user information and phone number. The benefit of this service is that CUCM users from one location can now easily gain access to information from the other CUCM location.
As an example, a user may want to look up information such as a phone number for a user associated with a different CUCM. Through the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Sync service, users will be able to quickly and easily search for this information.
The LDAP Sync process is very streamlined through the UCM interface. Simply by enabling Sync LDAP Enable within the extension / Trunk configuration of your UCM environment, and adding the proper ports for communication, a UCM environment is able to seamlessly and easily process the LDAP Sync capabilities.
