Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 5 is now available from Microsoft and the industry is buzzing! CBT Nuggets trainer Garth Schulte covers the most exciting and product-defining additions to Server 2016, giving you a head start on highly-anticipated features including Nano Server, Containers, Storage Spaces Direct, Storage Replica, and more. Garth's new course includes virtual labs to give you the hands-on experience you need to hit the ground running with this exciting new product.

We asked Garth about his new course and how our learners can get more out of training.

Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in Windows Server 2016? What value does it bring?

Windows Server 2016 is Microsoft's best server OS to date! It's brimming with new features, while building on previous innovations across Compute, Storage, Security, Virtualization, and many more that will improve the efficiency of our infrastructure, workloads, and staff.

Q: From a learner perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course?

Our goal for this course was to cover the hottest new features that will have the biggest impact on everyone. IT leadership, administrators, and developers will need to have their hands and minds on these features to fully harness the power of Server 2016.

Q: Any out-of-the-box tips for learners to get the most out of your course?

Follow along with the all new Nugget-level virtual labs! There is no better way to learn Server 2016's new features than to experience them yourself, first-hand. Watch. Learn. Lab. Conquer.

Q: What's one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course?

You'll have the opportunity to give these new features a test drive in our lab environment and begin the planning and preparation phase. This will also give learners a big head start on the new Server 2016 MCSA certification.

Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create?

Gaaah, just one? I'm choosing two and you can't stop me! 1) Nano Server, because it's fun to deploy a tiny, headless Windows OS; and 2) Storage Spaces Direct, because we build a cluster of Nano Servers to show off the next big thing in software-defined storage.

Q: What's the one thing you hope learners take away from this training?

The insight as to why and how this version of Windows Server is going to change how we think about infrastructure in the future.

Q: This course includes "virtual labs." What are virtual labs and how do they impact the learner experience?

A virtual lab is a computer or network of computers that you can use to follow along with Nuggets for that crucial hands-on experience, without the worries (and cost) of setting up your own lab environment! This course has a virtual lab tailored for every Nugget so you can play with Windows Server 2016's new features in seconds.
