Microsoft Office products are everywhere! Your ability to effectively use them impacts your ability to do your job well and efficiently. Simona Millham's new Microsoft 2016 course is designed to take a user with minimal spreadsheet skills right through to becoming an advanced user. Beginning with spreadsheet basics, this course quickly progresses to more advanced functionalities such as data visualization, charts, PivotTables, What-If Analysis, templates, and more.

We asked Simona for her thoughts on her new course.

Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in Microsoft Excel 2016? What value does it bring?

Almost everyone has Excel on their desktop, but only ever use about 10% of its capabilities. This course enables leaners to maximize the technology they already have, and really change the way they work with and present data.

Q: From a learner perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course?

It was a tricky one because these days so many people are already using Excel. So although I had to make it accessible to people who really are brand new to Excel, I also wanted to make it interesting for existing users too. I reckon that even seasoned users of Excel will learn some tips and tricks! In addition, Excel does have some very specialized uses (for engineers or statisticians, for example), so I had to really try to keep this course on a mainstream end-user track, whilst at the same time not skimping on the really interesting stuff!

Q: Any out-of-the-box tips for learners to get the most out of your course?

I would say that learners should jump in and watch whichever Nuggets take their fancy. Absolute beginners will prefer to work through from the start, but most people won't be absolute beginners and so it would be just fine if leaners just jumped right into whatever specific functionality they want to learn about.

Q: What's one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course?

New and exciting ways to visualize and analyze data.

Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create?

Oh, that's a tricky one because this was such a fun course to create! Probably Excel 3D Maps, Interactive Reports with Power View, and Data Visualization.

Q: What's the one thing you hope learners take away from this training?

That there's so much more to Excel than just adding up a column of numbers!
