Juniper networking products continue to gain popularity and market share across the IT landscape, making Juniper certifications increasingly valuable.

CBT Nuggets trainer Anthony Sequeira just completed the last course in his seven-course series that tackles the Juniper Networks Certified Specialist Enterprise Routing and Switching (JNCIS-ENT) certification with his Juniper JNCIS-ENT (JN0-343) Protocol Independent Routing; Tunnels course.

The course is the final step in preparation for the intermediate-level certification that measures learners' understanding of networking technology, Juniper enterprise routing and switching platforms, and related platform configuration and troubleshooting skills. Anthony took on the certification in a seven-course series addressing Layer 2, Layer 2 Security, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, High Availability, and Protocol Independent Routing; Tunnels.

We asked Anthony about his new series and what learners can do to master the material.

Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in Juniper technologies? What value does it bring?

From the largest Data Center, to the smallest of networks, more and more companies are using networking equipment from multiple vendors. Cisco and Juniper basically own some of these networking niches. Being skilled in both disciplines makes someone incredibly valuable.

Q: From a learner perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course series?

I made sure to create efficient and concise videos, just like our students love them.

Q: This is a rather new approach to CBT Nuggets courses! Rather than having one ginormous course of a bazillion videos, you broke it up into seven different courses. Tell us about the strategy and thinking behind that decision.

This makes it easy for a learner to target just what they need. For example, if they are strong in OSPF, but weak in BGP, they can target the course that is perfect for them. If they are going through all seven courses, they feel a sense of satisfaction early on when they finish the each course of the series!

Q: Any out-of-the-box tips for learners to get the most out of your course series?

I would say get ready to keep an open mind if you are a longtime student of another vendor. Some things will look very strange, but do not let that discourage you.

Q: What's one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course series?

They are going to be able to configure Juniper gear right away!

Q: What was your favorite course in the series to create? And what was your favorite individual Nugget in the series?

My favorite course to create was Juniper JNCIS-ENT (JN0-343) BGP. Many students struggle to understand this topic and it was fun to break it down. Same with the Juniper JNCIS-ENT (JN0-343) IS-IS course. Who am I kidding?! There was no favorite Nugget they were all a blast to create!

Q: In what order should learners complete the courses in this series?

Students can complete these courses in any order they feel would be best. The courses are quite independent.

Q: What's the one thing you hope learners take away from this training? That learning new disciplines in IT is fun and rewarding! Also, Juniper rocks!
