How Do You Manage Device Inventory For IT?
Managing inventory in an IT environment is very different from managing inventory in a retail space. In the world of IT, admins need to know how many devices they have, what kind of devices they are, who those devices are assigned to, how they are being used, and whether those devices are being maintained. Today's IT infrastructure is quickly becoming a hybrid environment where both on-premise and cloud services are used, though, making inventory management difficult. So, how do IT admins track inventory in such a complex environment?
One tool organizations have at their disposal is Microsoft InTune. InTune is a full-featured device management and deployment app for the Microsoft software ecosystem. InTune can manage end-user devices like laptops, desktops, and mobile phones. Likewise, it can also manage servers as well. Whether devices are enrolled in a local instance of Active Directory or Azure Active Directory, Intune can pull all those devices into one, centralized management app.
