What is a Cisco Meraki MV Camera?
Cisco Meraki MV Cameras are a line of cloud-managed smart cameras that provide both security and business insights, which you can deploy, configure and manage at any scale. You can further do all this from a centralized cloud interface, with no additional software to install.
MV Cameras have built-in security. When deployed, a camera automatically purchases and employs a publicly-signed SSL certificate. All management data is then encrypted by default using AES.
Another feature of MV Cameras is that they use little WAN bandwidth when you're not viewing camera footage. Only 50kbps of metadata streams in other situations. Video from the camera is also stored directly on the device using solid-state drives (though you can archive footage on the cloud.) This means that cameras can record even when network connectivity is lost.
With MV Cameras, you can further assess foot traffic using motion heat maps. They also have advanced object detection that uses machine learning to increase accuracy over time.
