How to Reduce Malware Infection with Endpoint Protection

Today, one of the leading causes of malicious viruses to spread within an organization’s IT environment is caused by employee error. Reported in 2019, up to 71% of organizations reported malware gaining access to a single employee's computer and spreading to other computers within the network. This attack vector is one of the most common targets by cybercriminals; today, as through human nature, employees can easily fall victim to malware traps, unintentionally downloading malware onto their machine.

This challenge creates an incredible need for local endpoint protection. Endpoint protection such as antivirus software or backup software can defend against these modernized threats that target an employee’s foley as a vulnerability point to gain access to a network.

Remarkably to this point, there's been a decrease in endpoint malware since 2019, dropping from 71% in 2019 to 60% in 2020. If your organization continues to find malware gaining access to employee workstations or endpoints within the network, it may be time to reassess the effectiveness of the endpoint protection strategy.
