Beware, Upgrading vManage May Apply Database Changes

Upgrading instances of vManage can be a straightforward process but depending on the version you are upgrading to you will need to take extra precautions. Here is what you need to know.

In most instances, upgrading between subversions of vManage should pose little issue, though you'll still want to prepare your environment accordingly. Upgrading major versions of vManage can include schema changes in the database. Because of this, you will need to do some prep work before applying those upgrades.

Make sure to read the documentation for any upgrades before applying them. If there are schema changes that need to be made to your database, you'll need to understand what those changes are and adjust your database and scripts as needed. If possible, apply that upgrade to a test environment first. That way you can ensure you aren't introducing code-breaking changes to your automation stack. If changing your database is not an option, you will need to create scripts that translate those code changes for both writing to and reading from your database.
