Summary
What is the Cisco SD-WAN Data Plane?
Cisco's SD-WAN solution offers a competitive set of options that help organizations manage their WAN spanning multiple physical locations or spanning into the hybrid cloud. By providing centralized cloud-first management with flexible deployment options, organizations can build large-scale networks that encompass fully integrated routing, end-to-end security, centralized and security and device policies.
One of the critical aspects of Cisco's SD-WAN is the separation of critical SD-WAN components. Cisco's SD-WAN delivers a clear separation of the management plane, the control plane, and the data plane. In this architecture, the Cisco SD-WAN Data Plane supports data transmission to and from clients within the SD-WAN network. By bifurcating the data plane, the control plane, and the management plane, admins can enact a zero-trust data transmission allowing control over how data is transmitted over each network component. In doing so, admins gain greater granular control over how data is transmitted within an AD-WAN environment and are able to enhance the security posture of their network.
