How Can Feature Templates Help Configure a Cisco SD-WAN Environment?
As new users configure a Cisco SD-WAN environment, it can often seem overly complex or challenging. In reality, designing a Cisco SD-WAN overlay network to support network communication spanning multiple environments is actually quite straightforward in a lot of ways. Configuration of a Cisco SD-WAN environment is done so through creating device templates and feature templates within that device template.
The VPN and device configuration are all done within feature templates, which can be found within the device template. When creating a device template, a user will define the Name, Description, Type (CLI or Feature), Device Model, Feature Templates, and Number of Devices Attached. In building a Feature Template over a CLI Template, users can create device-oriented templates containing variables that provide a wide array of feature configuration options for SD-WAN overlay devices.
