Why Use CLI over GUI?
A CLI allows users to use text-based commands to perform various instructions within applications or at the operating systems layer of computers. In comparison, GUI or Graphical User Interface is a graphical point-and-click interface that has become the go-to interface for operating systems such as Windows and Mac.
Unfortunately, when users dismiss the use of CLI, they are actually missing out on some phenomenal benefits in terms of speed, control and configuration within an application or operating system after properly understanding the fundamentals of CLI.
We couldn't discuss CLI without the mention of Shell. Shell is a user interface that manages the communication the CLI instructions and the operating system you are performing the tasks on. Shell paired with CLI is incredibly powerful in the ability to navigate directories, move files and folders within a directory, manage permissions and automate tasks all through the ease of various instructions.
