Why Automating DMVPN Deployments Makes Sense
DMVPN stands for Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Network. This provides the capability to deploy dynamic-mesh VPN solutions. By its name, you could easily guess that DMVPN is a way to offer a resilient, easily expandable VPN solution with multiple endpoints. The key to DMVPN, though, is being able to create the hub and spokes for that VPN network on the fly.
If you have ever configured and deployed a VPN, though, you understand the complexities that go along with it. A dynamic multipoint VPN is even more complicated, yet the nature of this type of VPN all but requires being able to deploy new endpoints seamlessly.
By utilizing automation tools like Ansible or Nornir, the process of deploying new DMVPN hubs or spokes becomes significantly easier. Likewise, these automation tools allow network admins to expand their VPN solutions on the fly. Learning to automate your DMVPN network is a must in the enterprise environment today.
