What is AWS Config and Why Use It?

AWS environments, often composed of many different business-critical applications and services spanning different geo-locations around the world, can quickly become very large and resource-intensive. To meet and maintain healthy business practices and assess resource management in the cloud, organizations require centralized services to monitor and manage resource usage across a cloud-native environment. AWS Config fulfills that challenge by providing an AWS cloud-native service designed to assess, audit, and evaluate the configuration of various AWS cloud resources.

AWS Config provides a real-time monitoring solution designed to provide organizations with continuous monitoring and reporting capabilities of their AWS environment. This critical resource monitoring tool helps organizations ensure they are not over-provisioning or over-consuming resources that could otherwise be inducing high costs or unnecessary consumption.

Furthermore, for organizations who are required to meet compliance requirements, AWS Config provides insight into where resources are being consumed so that organizations can be sure data management and transfer practices are meeting their unique compliance requirements.

As organizations scale, AWS Config can act as a central critical resource to help organizations monitor resource consumption and maintain healthy data management practices and optimize their growing environment for the future.
