Want a job in IT? This course is where to start. A golden rule of education is to never get started in a new subject before understanding the ideas and the words of that subject. This course explains information technology (IT) in a way that's easy but most importantly usable for anyone who uses technology for their job.
Certifications are valuable ways to prove your knowledge about a topic, but this course isn't designed to have you ready for any particular one right away. If you're hoping to earn an entry-level CompTIA certification, or any certification that covers the basics of IT, this course is where you should start.
CompTIA offers a vendor-neutral, pre-entry-level certification called IT Fundamentals+ that would be a great follow-up to this course. IT Fundamentals+ (ITF+) is designed to help people who want to eventually work in IT spot what areas they'd fit best. It's more of an aptitude test than a full-blown cert, but this course can help you get started.
You should take this course because it's the familiarization and explanation you never got to all the technology that makes it possible to do your job every day. No matter where you work, knowing how technology, servers, devices, databases and personnel work together will make you a more knowledgeable and capable employee.
