What experience do I need before taking this course?

CompTIA recommends approximately four years of hands-on experience in a SOC or vulnerability analyst role before attempting the CySA+ exam. How does CySA+ differ from Security+?

What does the CS0-004 exam actually look like?

The exam includes up to 85 questions and runs 165 minutes. You will encounter multiple choice questions and performance-based questions that ask you to work through scenarios, interpret tool output, or make decisions in simulated environments. The passing score is 750 on a scale of 100-900. The four domains are weighted as follows: Security Operations at 34%, Vulnerability Management at 26%, Incident Response and Management at 24%, and Reporting and Communication at 16%.

Is CySA+ worth it if I already have Security+?

For analysts working in a SOC or vulnerability management role, CySA+ is a logical next step that signals you can operate at a higher level than Security+ alone suggests. Many employers use it as a benchmark for mid-level analyst positions or for meeting DoD 8570/8140 requirements. If your day-to-day work involves threat detection, incident response, or vulnerability prioritization, the certification aligns directly with what you are already doing.
