How Do You Manage Your PM Timeline?
An important part of project management is the Plan Schedule Management process. Without this process, project managers won't know if they will be able to complete their project on time, but what is Plan Project Management?
Plan Project Management is one of the many tasks a project manager must complete during the second stage of the project life cycle (the planning phase). Plan Project Management is the process in creating the documentation and procedures for developing, managing, and executing a project's schedule.
This is the process in which each task in a project is allotted timeframes for completion, start and end times, and the policies and procedures for beginning, ending and handing off completed tasks in a project.
Project managers use this process for deciding how to effectively handle the project schedule. Though Plan Schedule Management may be one step in the planning phase of the project lifecycle, it's an important phase that creates the foundations of the entire project timeline. Poor understanding of Plan Schedule Management will lead to delayed projects, or worse, failed projects.
