CompTIA Released Network+ N10-007 Exam

In case you hadn't heard, CompTIA released its new Network+ exam earlier this month. With that said, you still have time to take the old Network+ exam. It retires in August. But, we recommend that you take the new exam.

Every few years, CompTIA reboots its exams to better align with the skill sets you'll need in the real world. The new N10-007 certification exam expands the domains covered in the exam including:

• Critical security concepts,

• Cloud computing best practices and service models,

• New hardware and virtualization techniques, and

• Network resiliency.

The logistics of the new N10-007 exam are no different from the N10-006. However, it's slightly more expensive than the previous version. The new exam price increased from $294 to $302.

Exam Details

The CompTIA Network+ is made up of just one exam.

Time allotted for the exam: 1.5 hours (90 minutes)

Number of questions: Maximum of 90 questions

Passing score: 720 (on a scale of 100-900)

Question types: Multiple choice, multiple choice/multiple answer, drag and drop, and performance-based

Exam registration: Pearson Vue

Exam cost: $302 (USD)

Recertification

Recertification for Network+ N10-007 remains exactly the same as the previous version. The CompTIA Network+ certification is eligible for renewal through CompTIA's continuing education (CE) program. Because CBT Nuggets is a CompTIA partner, our courses are pre-approved for continuing education credit.

What's next?

CompTIA certifications serve as excellent building blocks that can enable learners to pursue more advanced, vendor-specific certifications, or further CompTIA certifications. Following the CompTIA Network+ certification, learners most typically pursue:

• CCNA Routing and Switching (made up of two exams: ICND1 and ICND2);

• MCSA Windows Server 2012 R2 or 2016

• CompTIA Security+ (made up of just one exam: SY0-501).
