What is Azure Cosmos DB?

Azure Cosmos DB is a managed NoSQL database service that you can use for the development of your web applications. The service includes support for popular databases such as MongoDB and Cassandra, and it offers both fast response times and high availability.

No matter how large an application scales, or what kind of activity it may experience at a given time, Cosmos DB delivers constant database performance, and it gives you the flexibility to develop your application with a wide range of SDKs and APIs.

Cosmos DB further offers real-time analytics for your data without the need of extract, load and transformation (ETL) routines. It can further integrate with Azure Synapse Analytics and do so without hampering the performance of your production systems.

Additionally, Cosmos DB manages database administration for you, including the updating and patching of software. It also offers capacity management through automatic scaling options that respond to the real-time needs of your application.
