For IT leaders
What IT leaders need to know before assigning this course
Reports built without governance create real risk: sensitive data shared through the wrong distribution method, reports published without the right workspace controls, and DAX formulas nobody on the team can explain. This PL-300 course gives IT Directors and Team Leads a consistent baseline for how analysts connect, clean, model, secure, and publish Power BI content.
Role fit: Best suited to IT Practitioners and analysts with about a year of data analytics experience. It also suits experienced BI staff who want to validate their skills with an associate-level Microsoft certification.
Time investment: About 8.6 hours across 11 skills. Most learners can finish in two to three weeks alongside regular work.
Risk and compliance: Your team learns row-level security, sensitivity labels for customer and internal data, workspace roles and domain-based access, and the trade-offs of each report distribution method, including publish to web. The course also covers publishing reports to workspaces and making content available to intended users within the environment.
Change-management note: The course covers DAX formulas, including creating columns and tables from existing models. Expect analysts to come away with a stronger foundation for writing and maintaining their own formulas. It also covers production, developer, and sandbox environments, which is a good prompt to formalize how your team tests and promotes content.
Knowledge checks confirm progress skill by skill. Unlimited PL-300 practice exams help your team measure readiness before anyone books the exam.
