For IT leaders
What IT leaders need to know before assigning this course
For IT leaders: Linux servers often run critical workloads, yet many teams rely on one or two people who really know them. That creates single points of failure, slow incident response, and inconsistent security settings. This course gives your junior systems admins a shared, exam-aligned baseline for managing, securing, and troubleshooting Linux.
Role fit: Built for junior systems admins and IT Practitioners who already have some Linux exposure and need structured depth before taking the CompTIA Linux+ (XK0-005) exam. Team Leads can also use individual skills, such as permissions or systemd, as targeted refreshers.
Risk and compliance relevance: Security takes up a large share of the course. It covers practical Linux hardening topics such as secure bits, password strength, kernel security parameters, service accounts, secure package removal, encryption, SSH authentication, and firewall concepts. These topics support the operational controls auditors often ask IT teams to explain and maintain.
Time investment: The course has 36 skills totaling about 32 hours of video. Plan for additional hands-on time, because learners build and practice in a Linux lab environment. At 3–4 hours per week, most learners finish in two to three months.
Change-management note: Later skills introduce automation and container concepts, including Ansible and Docker. Expect learners to arrive with ideas for automating manual work.
Platform support: Learners build their own Ubuntu and Rocky Linux lab, with guided setup for Windows, Intel Macs, and Apple Silicon Macs. Training Managers can track progress across all 36 skills with Team Reporting.
