We asked Anthony to tell us more about his experience creating the course.
Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in this technology? What value does it bring? Cisco recommends we use a Defense in Depth strategy when it comes to securing today's networks. Your Cisco routers and switches themselves have many security features and functionality built in that you can take advantage of as a powerful layer of defense. This course ensures you know how to configure and troubleshoot the most popular and powerful of these features.
Q: From a student-perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course? I wanted to keep the Nuggets short and concise and to the point. I also wanted to ensure that I fully demonstrated all technologies.
Q: Any out-of-the-box tips for students to get the most out of your course? You can follow along with real or rented gear: GNS3 and/or Cisco VIRL. Learn more about why VIRL is a great option by reviewing Anthony's recent webinar, Cisco VIRL.
Q: What's one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course? You can help defend your network using the security features built in to routers and switches from Cisco Systems.
Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create? I think my favorite Nugget to create was the DHCP Snooping Nugget since that can be really confusing for students. It was fun to make a video that makes this technology easy to understand, configure, and troubleshoot.
Q: What roadblocks did you come across when creating this training and how did you overcome them? It was challenging at times to pack so much information in a Nugget.
Q: What's the ONE thing you hope learners take away from this training? That adding layers of security to the network can be easy and powerful at the same time!
