This VMware vSphere Foundation 9.0 Support Training prepares you for the VCP-VVF Support certification. You’ll dive into troubleshooting a live VVF 9.0 environment, including deployment failures, vSphere-to-VVF 9.0 conversions, and cluster scaling issues. This course also covers compute (ESX, vCenter, VMs), storage (vSAN, iSCSI, NFS), networking (VDS and VSS), and license management. By the end of this course, you’ll understand VCF operations like log collection, dashboards, alerts, the Observability Workbench, and Orchestrator workflows.

VCP vSphere Foundation training FAQs

What experience do I need before taking this VMware course?

You should have at least one year of hands-on experience supporting or troubleshooting VVF components such as vCenter, ESX, vSAN, or VCF Operations. The exam blueprint also expects a minimum of two years of broader IT experience. If you are new to VMware vSphere Foundation, you will likely want to get some lab time in before attempting this material.

How is this exam different from other VCP-level VMware certifications?

Most VCP exams test across planning, design, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. This one is different because Sections 1 through 4 carry no testable objectives. Every exam question comes from Section 5, which is entirely scenario-based troubleshooting. That means the exam is narrower in scope but expects a higher level of practical judgment than a typical associate-level test.

What does 'given a scenario' actually mean on this exam?

VMware uses scenario-based questions to test whether you can apply knowledge to a real situation rather than just recall a definition. You will be given a description of a problem in a running VVF environment and asked to identify the cause or the correct next step. The questions are designed to reflect the kind of issues a support engineer would actually encounter, not abstract theory.

Is VCF Operations a big part of the exam?

Yes, two full objectives cover it. Objective 5.8 includes configuring VCF Operations, using the Observability Workbench, generating and uploading log bundles, and building dashboards and alerts. Objective 5.9 covers VCF Operations Orchestrator, specifically troubleshooting configuration and workflow execution. Together they represent a meaningful portion of the testable content, so it is worth spending real time in the product.

Is this certification worth pursuing if I already hold a VCP-DCV?

The VCP-VVF Support cert is specifically scoped to support and troubleshooting work within a VVF deployment, so it is not a direct replacement for VCP-DCV. If your day-to-day role involves supporting VVF environments or working Broadcom support cases, this credential demonstrates a specific and practical skill set that the broader VCP-DCV does not. If you are in a design or architecture role, VCP-DCV is probably the more relevant credential.

Who is VCP vSphere Foundation training for?

This course is for support engineers and administrators with at least a year of experience working with VVF components who want to earn the VCP-VVF Support certification. It is a strong fit if you regularly troubleshoot ESX, vCenter, vSAN, or VCF Operations issues and want a credential that reflects that work.
