For IT leaders
What IT leaders need to know before assigning this course
MySQL often sits behind internal and customer-facing web applications, yet many teams manage it informally. Gaps in privilege management, backup and restore, and high availability can turn routine changes into outages or audit findings. MySQL Essentials gives IT teams a shared foundation, from table design and constraints to user privileges, backups, MySQL deployment options such as Amazon RDS, and high-availability considerations.
Role fit: This is foundational training. It suits junior IT Practitioners, developers with up to three years of experience, and team members who are new to databases. Team Leads can also use it to standardize how developers and operations staff build, secure, and deploy MySQL across on-premises, Azure, AWS, and PlanetScale.
Time investment: The course has 29 skills and runs about 27 hours. Each skill is roughly one hour, so Training Managers can assign targeted modules instead of the full path. For example, privileges and backup and restore support risk reduction, while Azure and AWS support cloud migrations.
Change-management notes: Demonstrations use Docker Desktop containers, so learners can follow along on Windows, macOS, or Linux without touching production servers. This course is not aligned to a certification exam. Present it to your team as practical skill-building, not exam prep.
