For IT leaders
What IT leaders need to know before assigning this course
Hybrid and multi-cloud environments spread identity, network, and workload policy across tools that rarely stay consistent. Expired certificates that look like "Wi-Fi down," legacy systems that cannot support modern authentication, and policies rebuilt by hand for each cloud all add outage risk and audit exposure.
Role fit: This intermediate course is built for security engineers, network engineers, and cloud specialists who already work with Cisco networks. It suits teams responsible for Cisco access, network security, SD-WAN, Umbrella, or XDR initiatives, or teams planning a Zero Trust rollout.
Time investment: Plan for about 27 hours per learner across 31 skills. Most skills run about 45–65 minutes, so a Team Lead can assign the course in focused blocks:
- Frameworks such as NIST and DISA STIGs
- Identity and PKI
- Network and SD-WAN security
- XDR and threat intelligence
Compliance and change management: Framework coverage gives your team a shared vocabulary for risk management, security controls, and exceptions for legacy systems. The SRA use cases show where ZTNA and SASE adoption introduces capacity planning and integration work. Some interface walkthroughs use older vManage interfaces, but the instructor notes that the overall process is the same in current SD-WAN Manager.
How CBT Nuggets supports the outcome: Course demos and guided explanations help your team connect security architecture concepts to operational work, including certificate management, Cisco XDR architecture, telemetry, orchestration, and incident context. Team Leads can use the course structure to assign focused skill blocks and confirm learners understand each topic before moving forward.
