Despite competition from Microsoft, Red Hat, and Citrix, VMware is the undisputed industry leader when it comes to virtualization technologies. It helps that both Linux and Windows support it — ensuring the ability for true heterogeneous environments.
As a result, there‘s a strong demand for IT professionals who can help organizations leverage VMware products and services.
VMware certification training levels & tracks
There are four VMware certification levels — Associate, Professional, Advanced Professional, and Expert — and five VMware certification tracks — Network Virtualization, Data Center Virtualization, Cloud Management and Automation, Desktop and Mobility, and Digital Workplace.
IT professionals progressing down a specialized VMware certification path typically start with a professional-level certification rather than the associate. There is only one associate-level VMware certification, and it’s the sole certification in the Digital Business Transformation track. Each of the other VMware certification tracks have three certification levels, which start with VMware certified professional (VCP) certifications.
CBT Nuggets has online training courses for the most popular exams in the VMware certification path.
