Fortinet NSE 6 - FortiAuthenticator Training FAQs: Cost, Training, Value
The NSE 6 - FortiAuthenticator exam costs $200 to attempt. However, it is not the only certification you need to pass in order to earn the Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP) in Network Security – it's merely one of its eight elective exams. To earn the certification, you need to pass the core exam (NSE 4 FortiOS) as well as one elective exam, and since both cost $200, the total cost of the FCP in Network Security is $400.
Yes, as of October 1, 2023, all of Fortinet's certifications have an expiration date – which was not always the case prior to their reorganization of their certification collection. Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP) in Network Security expires two years after it's earned. You can renew your FCP in Network Security before it expires in a few ways: by passing the core and elective exam again; by earning the specialist-level FCSS in Network Security; or by earning the expert-level FCX cert.
Everyone experiences tests differently, so it's hard to say whether or not one exam is particularly difficult. That said, the NSE 6 - FortiAuthenticator exam is a professional-level test of network security configuration and management that's meant to represent several year's worth of experience. So if you're already comfortable with configuring and monitoring FortiGate devices, and if you use and tweak FortiAuthenticator in your day-to-day job, you'll likely find that the NSE 6 exam is tough but fair.
Practice exams and virtual simulations are two of the most important things to include when you're studying for the FCP in Network Security. At the professional level, Fortinet expects the network security professionals earning their certifications to be comfortable in a wide range of settings and environments, and their tests are designed to challenge your real-world capabilities. Make sure you're ready to prove your knowledge with practice tests and your skills with virtual sims.
