Teams Premium Licenses
Before diving into specific Teams Premium features, we will discuss the differences between a Teams license and a Teams Premium license..
Knowledge Check
Teams Premium licenses are a replacement for Teams licenses.
Teams Premium | Manage what attendees see
The "Manage what attendees see" option in Microsoft Teams lets the meeting organizer or presenter control what attendees (especially those not presenters) see on their screen. You can pin the content that you want attendees to see, therefore not allowing those attendees to see random camera feeds or sidebar content.
Knowledge Check
In what section of the Teams Meeting settings is the "Manage what attendees see" option visible, provided you have a Teams Premium License?
Teams Premium | Hide Attendee Names
“Hide attendee names” improves privacy by preventing attendees from seeing each other’s names while allowing users with specific roles to maintain complete control and visibility.

Teams Premium Licenses
0:00So in this video, we'll talk about what it means to have this license with features that are now available to you. And in the following videos, we'll go to some demos of some of these features. In order to have access to and to run Microsoft Teams, there are certain licenses that your organization will need. So here, everyone dive into the type of plan or license that you may need. I want you to take away that we need certain licensing to even begin to use Microsoft Teams. And having this license allows you to use the many features that you and I have gone through throughout this course.
0:31We also have Microsoft Teams Premium. And Premium is not a replacement for the Microsoft Teams license. Microsoft Teams Premium is an added license to Microsoft Teams. With Teams Premium, we get additional features, focus on intelligence, personal ization, and also security to enhance our Teams experience. So I'll just say that you may or may not have access to these features depending if you are assigned a Teams Premium license.
1:07So in other words, you may or may not have access to these features that we're about to talk about and go through in our demo. Depending if your organization purchase a Teams Premium license and two, if that license is assigned to your account. So this webpage that we're looking at does have a comparison chart, but I want to show you if we go down to a chart here, here are the features you would get if you are licensed for Microsoft Teams. And here are the additional features that you would get in the event you have Teams Premium.
1:40So once again, I'm not going too deep here, but you can see that we have additional features when we have Microsoft Teams Premium on top of our Microsoft Teams license. So let's talk about some key features that really stand out. One being intelligent recap. So here, Teams automatically generate your meeting notes, also recommend any tasks, along with personalized highlights using artificial intelligence.
2:11This is super useful in the event that you missed the meeting, or maybe this meeting occurred a month ago, and you want quick access to key information that occurred within that meeting. We also have live translated captioning transcripts. participants that speak several different languages. Here we are providing real time AI power translations for captioning transcripts that occurred during and after a meeting. This is definitely useful in the event that you have a meeting, meaning we have We also have custom branding, so we can customize meeting backgrounds and also add organizational logos and colors to meeting lobbies and invites.
2:50For custom branding, we're creating this professional and branded experience for our clients. We can also take advantage of meeting templates. So here we have a template of the different settings of a meeting. Then we can use over and over again to ensure a consistent meeting experience. We also have watermarking, and this allows us to protect our sensitive information or content during the meeting. We definitely see how that works when we demo watermarking later in this skill. We also have high attendee names, so imagine if you have a very large meeting, using this feature prevents others from seeing who is joining the meeting or the information.
3:30So instead of focusing a name and email address, you'll simply see attendee. During the meeting, we can also manage where attendee sees. Here we have full control of what content that folks would see in the meeting, along with enabling them the ability to share content. And finally, we have engagement reports, and we saw this in a previous video where we saw who attended our meeting along the stage and also who interacted, so here think about reactions, and we also saw who had their microphone or camera turned on.
4:06Here we only have so many features that you would get access to in the event that you were assigned the Microsoft Teams Premium License. There are many more features now listed here, but you can find them within this document. In this skill, we'll highlight some of these features and go through different demos.
Teams Premium | Manage what attendees see
0:00So first we'll look at a feature called Manage with a 10 DC. We'll go ahead and configure this in one of our meetings and go through a demo. Currently in my environment, Pedro is assigned a team's premium license. So Thomas, Mero, and Sierra along with myself do not have the license, but once again Pedro does. So Pedro will schedule a new meeting like so.
0:33Alright, we'll go ahead and pick a title. So here I want to invite Thomas and Sierra. So next I want to go to more options. Now also I'm going to bring up Mero and also spin up her team's client so we can see what Mero does not have matches to. So I'm going to go ahead and pick up the schedule because he has a team's premium license. Alright, so let's go to calendar. Also go to new meeting.
1:06Now we named this delete me because I'm not going to save this meeting, but I'm going to put Thomas and Sierra here as far as invitations. Now for Mero, we'll also go to more options. So here we go to engagement. We have an option here to manage what attendee see. If I go to Mero and go to engagement. No, it's here that Mero does not have this option.
1:38Alright, so going back to Pedro. Notice I cannot enable this option. So look at our description here. Make someone a presenter to manage this meeting. Alright, so it's got a rose here. What I'm going to do is assign certain people in my meeting to be a presenter. So I will choose here Jackson, like so. And now if I go to engagement, at this point, I'll have the ability to turn this option on.
2:14Alright, so we'll go ahead and save. And at this point, I had said. Alright, so let's go ahead and join this meeting. Alright, going back to Pedro. So here we see that Pedro and Sierra have this view for the reason being that Pedro is an organizer. And we also specify that Sierra can present. What we notice to view that Thomas has.
2:46In fact, if we focus on here, so the organizers control attendee audio and video in this meeting. Then we have another message here. That I Thomas have been muted. You also see my microphone has been disabled so I can no longer unmute. In fact, we see it grayed out there. We also see that my camera is disabled and I can share a video. And we also see that right there. So here Pedro and Sierra can manage what attendees can see in this meeting.
3:17So for example, if I go to Sierra Jackson, I have the ability to bring her on screen. So if I go to Sierra, what I'm going to do is turn her camera on. Like so. Alright, so there's a camera for Sierra. If I go to Pedro, I do see Sierra's camera. But if I go to Thomas, he still doesn't see anything. But now if I go to Pedro, go ahead and bring Sierra onto the screen. Like so, at this point, Pedro will not see that camera.
3:48Let's add the baby to take her off screen. Like so. So Thomas no longer sees Sierra's camera. Alright, going back to Pedro. If I go to people here, if I let me turn my camera off. There we go. So going back to people, no one's here for Thomas Smith. Here I do have the option to bring Thomas on screen to make a presenter or remove him from this meeting. But here if I bring Thomas on screen, like so, if I go to Thomas, now I do have the ability to unmute my microphone.
4:24Right here, I don't have a camera because I don't have a device connected to Thomas. We also see that I am not visible to everyone in this meeting. It also says that my camera has been enabled, but I don't have one. So in fact, let me go ahead and take Thomas off screen. Like so. So give me a moment as I connect the camera to Thomas. Alright, so I'm back.
4:54What I'm going to do is make Thomas on screen again. Like so. Let's go to Thomas. So now we see here that I do have the ability to unmute my microphone like so, so I can do that along with sharing my camera. In fact, we see that right there. If I go back to Pedro and take Thomas off screen as I'm doing right now. If I go back to Thomas, it knows once again, he loses his ability to enable or control his microphone and camera.
5:24So here with the feature, manageable attendee see, Pedro has the ability to really control video feed. For which video feeds are spotlighted or shown during the meeting, and which ones are also hidden from view. This feature also gives us the ability to determine if a user or an attendee to that meeting can either enable along with disable the microphone or camera or even mute the microphone. [BLANK_AUDIO]
Teams Premium | Hide Attendee Names
0:00So let's right now we look at the higher attendees name feature with their Microsoft teams. So I'm going back to Pedro. We do a new meeting. Let's name this one product demo. And this time we're going to invite everyone. All right, next we go to more options. And here under roles, we have an option to hide attendee names. Let's go to my room. We'll go to roles for her, notice that she does not have this option.
0:31All right, going back to Pedro, you see that is currently disabled. It will highlight our description here that this prevents attendees from seeing each other's names in the meeting. Organizers, presenters, and applications will still have access to the names. To use this setting, make someone a presenter and turn on before the meeting starts. Now here we notice we have several options so we can choose everyone. We can choose people in my organ guests as far as folks who can present certain people along with only organizers and co organizers.
1:07Keep in mind if I choose people in my organ guests, I can enable this feature, but there is one problem. This would not give me the behavior of hiding attending names for the reason being anyone in my organization or guests can present. Going back to our description here, organizers, presenters, and applications will still have access to names. Let's go ahead and change this to only organizers and co organizers. What I'm going to do is make my role a co organizer.
1:39All right, so at this point, I will save my changes. We'll go ahead and choose send. All right, so let's go ahead and start this meeting and have everybody join. So here logged in as myself. I see a message here. My name is hidden from all other attendees. Organizers and presenters can still see my real name. So here Pedro is the organizer.
2:10The maara is the co organizer. This is the reason that I can see their names. We see here that we have two other folks part of this meeting, but notice I don 't see their name. I simply see attendee. So let's go over to zero and we should see the same there. So we see Pedro and maara and we have two attendees there. Let's go to Thomas and we see the same thing. But notice if I go to Pedro here, Pedro can see everyone's name.
2:42So we see Thomas Smith here. We see Sierra Jackson and we see me. And maara being the co organizer shows you the same. We also see the attendees Thomas Smith, me and Sierra Jackson. So here we have a really cool option and we want to protect the identity or the name of the attendees of our meeting. [BLANK_AUDIO]
Teams Premium | Intelligent Recap
0:00So let's look at one of the more impressive features within Teams in the event that you have to premium license that would be intelligent recap. So in this video we'll see what this feature does and go through a demo. So once again the feature is called intelligent recap. This is a AI or artificial intelligence powered feature. One intelligent recap does is generate meeting summaries. So after the meeting has occurred, you can generate key points of the meeting and the action items or any personalized highlights.
0:36In order to access intelligent recap, you need one or two licenses, either a Teams premium license or a Microsoft 365 co-pilot license. And co-pilot is really Microsoft's artificial intelligence assistant. Built into apps like Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word itself among other applications. So earlier this morning offline, I had a meeting. So let's go ahead and expand this.
1:10So this meeting was between Pedro, the organizer, who has a Teams premium license, along with Tommy Smith and Sarah Jackson. And the topic of this meeting was Tampa, Florida, update. Now we have a recap tab right here. We see here this meeting was recorded. We also have a transcript and also we can see who was in attendance. Keep in mind for intelligent recap to work, recording and transcript have to be enabled for that meeting. So before we go to recap here for Pedro, let's go to Thomas and let's go ahead and check out that meeting and his point of view. So if I go to expand here and here, if we go to recap, what do we see?
2:01So Thomas doesn't have access to this recording, but we have certain sections here that are blurred out. In order to access these sections, we need access to Microsoft Teams premium. For us, luckily, Pedro does have the license. So if we go to Pedro, like so, we 're going to go to recap. We could definitely see Pedro has access to additional content. So we can see we have AI notes.
2:34So intelligent recap has provided meeting notes for his meeting. So we see here we have issues with the AC along being short staffed. We have a dark door that is malfunction ing. If we scroll down, we see that we have good notes summarizing this meeting. Let's go down to the bottom for action items or follow up task. We see that we need to reach out to a recruiter in Atlanta. We have to contact the recruitment agency and also we have to call maintenance.
3:10So imagine how useful this is, especially this meeting occurred two weeks ago, or if I need to send updates via email or chat or some other communication method about this meeting. All right, we're going down. We see additional tasks. Here we go, a note here. We can add meeting notes. We do have a mention here. We're going down a bit more. We have our speakers in the meeting. So we can see when exactly they spoke. And in fact, we can go to that portion of the meeting like so. We have topics.
3:43So we can see this portion of the meeting was opening of the temple warehouse. Was about navigating staffing and infrastructure changes. We also see chapters. We're going to scroll down a bit. We can see those two topics were split into chapters. We can see here the additional functionality that you and I get with intelligent recap. Let's go to attendance. So here we can see we have our participants when they first join or last left.
4:19We have the role for teams premium gives you insight to the engagement. So in this meeting, we happen to have no engagement, but in the event that we did, we see that data here. In fact, we have an engagement tab right here. So once again, this is only a demo. But if I had actual meeting, I can see the number of total reactions, raise hands. How many folks unmuted their microphone or the non- camera. This is all information that one would not see if they did not have the Microsoft Teams premium license.
Troubleshoot Microsoft Teams Issues
0:00So, let's you and I will look at troubleshooting issues for Microsoft Teams. Now, for many issues, you might have to get your IT department involved. After all, that's what they do for a living and you use Microsoft Teams for your everyday task. So, in this video, one of the series and troubleshooting steps that can help you resolve the issue yourself and minimum, help your IT department and those guys and girls resolve your issue a lot quicker. Maybe you join a meeting or a call and you are unable to hear other folks in that meeting. Maybe those folks can't hear you.
0:32Maybe your audio and video are choppy. Possibly your call has been dropped. Maybe the Teams application will not load on your desktop or laptop. Or maybe we can join meetings or you don't have any notifications. So here we have confidence issues the most users will experience at some time. Maybe the first thing we do is we start our Teams application or device. And I know you may say to yourself, this is what they always tell me to do first.
1:03And to be honest, if I would support your environment, I would tell you the same thing. Because many times this does resolve the issue. When possible, I tell people to perform or for reboot. For the reason being, you never know what other applications you are running on your desktop or laptop that could be causing issues. But let's say a reboot was not possible for whatever reason, you can restart the application. Keep in mind, when you restart the application, you simply can't close it.
1:36Why? Because the application is running in the background. You have to do a right click here and choose Quit Teams. And at this point, Microsoft Teams is now fully closed. So now if I wanted to restart, I just click on my Teams icon here. And now the application launches once again. And now the thing you could do is check your internet connection. In order to use Microsoft Teams, we need that connectivity out to the internet.
2:06Going back to Thomas. So let's say he opens a browser. Maybe I go to a website that I have not visited before. In this case, tbtenugets.com. We received that the page does load successfully, so I do have connectivity out to the internet. And then I want to like to use, it's a website called fast.com. Fast.com is a free internet speed test website that's provided by Netflix.
2:39So here we're testing the speed of your internet connection against Netflix servers, which really gives us a good indicator of streaming performance. So here in my environment, I do have a pretty good internet connection. Now for best practice, Microsoft Teams suggests at least two megabits per second upload. And also two megabits per second download. That's the amount of bandwidth for connection Microsoft suggests for our audio only calls, our video calls, our group video calls, and also a screen share.
3:18So here we see my download speed, if I hit show more info, and then we see my upload speed there. Now we also should be checking DNS. DNS is an acronym for domain name system. So without going too deep, DNS is a phone book of the internet. What DNS does is take a web address, like for example, it'd be browse to tbten ugets.com and translate that to an IP address, for example, this IP address right here.
3:50Computers and devices use IP addresses to communicate. But DNS names are easier to remember. Would it be easier for me to tell you to open up your browser and go to cbtnug get.com or open up your browser and go to 3.222.69.24. So let me show you a tip here, let's go back to Thomas. We're going to do on his window desktop, open up a command prompt. So I go to CMD and use our command prompt.
4:26So let me make this full screen here and increase the font just a bit. We can use the ping command. This ping command is send a new message to another computer or to a website, pretty much saying, hey, are you there? For example, whether ping teams.microsoft.com. So we see here that we are getting a reply. So that's good news. But notice when I enter in teams.microsoft.com, what DNS does is convert that to an IP address.
5:00This case, which is two that 123 the 180 14. So let me clean my screen. So let's say we did a ping for DNS Google. This DNS host name is always translated to either 8.8.8 or 8.8 of four. That's exactly what we see here. So in the event, we did not get a response here of this one that we see on the screen.
5:37You can do a ping the IP address of all eight. Like so. I can also ping eight dot eight dot four, the four. So here we see that we are getting successful responses. And let's see that up here also. So in the event that we did a ping DNS Google.
6:09And did not get a response. What did get a successful response when picking the IP address here? This could be an indication that your DNS is not working or your names are not being translated properly to IP address. This is something you couldn't fit, but you can make your IT department aware. Here's what I did. I said what's going on to a system in a troubleshooting. What I'm going to do is to disable my network card, which is simulate that I have no internet connectivity.
6:41So let me go ahead and disable this. Microsoft Teams to show banner on top indicating that we don't have any internet connectivity. Did we see that banner on top indicating to us that we don't have an internet connection or we have a problem with that connection. All right, so let me go ahead and re-enable my connection. So soon after that banner goes away.
7:15Thank you. [BLANK_AUDIO]
