For IT leaders
What IT leaders need to know before assigning this course
For IT leaders: Many business-critical reports still live in spreadsheets that only one person fully understands. When data imported from other systems is inconsistent, formulas break silently, or monthly updates rely on manual steps, the result is rework, reporting errors, and key-person risk.
Who to assign: Data analysts, accountants, project managers, admins, and business leaders who already use Excel daily. The instructor builds on the MO-210 Excel Specialist course, so Training Managers should confirm learners have that baseline first or assign MO-210 ahead of this course.
Time investment: About 11 hours across 13 skills, with most skills under an hour. That makes it practical to schedule one skill per week alongside regular work.
What changes for the team: Learners practice the habits that make shared workbooks more reliable:
- Cleaning and validating imported data before it feeds PivotTables
- Tracing precedents and evaluating formulas to find errors such as #REF!
- Grouping PivotTable content, adjusting field settings, and using calculated fields
- Recording and editing simple macros for repetitive monthly tasks
These practices reduce dependence on a single spreadsheet owner and make workbooks easier for colleagues to audit.
Exam readiness: The course is aligned to the MO-211 Excel Expert exam. It closes with challenge-based skills that use supplemental workbooks, giving Team Leads a clear checkpoint for exam readiness before learners schedule the certification exam.
