For IT leaders
What IT leaders need to know before assigning this course
Wi-Fi signals pass through walls and reach well beyond the building. Every new IoT sensor, guest network, and BYOD phone also widens the attack surface. The risk for IT Directors is a WLAN that looks secure on paper but fails an audit, or gets bypassed by users looking for workarounds.
Role fit: This course is built for network admins with three to five years of wireless experience. Team Leads with security-savvy staff can have them skim the fundamentals skill and focus on the wireless-specific material. The content aligns to CWSP and supports a broader CWNP certification path.
Compliance and risk: The course covers regulatory considerations, including PCI-DSS, at the level practitioners need. That means understanding what is and isn't allowed when storing and transmitting sensitive data, then turning those requirements into a documented WLAN security policy.
Time investment: There are 21 skills totaling about 18.4 hours per learner. Each skill runs roughly 50–60 minutes, which fits a weekly team cadence.
Change management: The training stresses that overly strict policies push users toward workarounds. It walks through practical trade-offs your team will face, such as:
- Managing guest access without exposing internal resources
- User friction with VPNs on public Wi-Fi
- Pushing apps to BYOD devices through MDM
How CBT Nuggets supports it: Each skill ends with a review quiz that surfaces knowledge gaps before learners move on. The course can be assigned as a team training plan to onboard new network admins, or kept as a Wi-Fi security reference.
