Azure Subscriptions and Resources FAQs: Cost, Training, Value

What's the underlying technology covered by this Azure Subscriptions and Resources training?

Microsoft Azure is the underlying technology covered by this training, but it specifically explains how to manage Azure subscriptions, analyze resource utilization and manage resource groups and RBAC. The Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate is a certification that proves an administrator is capable of managing an entire Azure environment, this Azure Subscriptions and Resources training specifically relates to monitoring your resource usage and billing.

Is Exam AZ-103 Microsoft Azure Administrator retired?

Yes, Microsoft retired Exam AZ-103 on August 31, 2020. When Microsoft retired AZ-103, they replaced it with AZ-104, which has the same name as AZ-103 (Microsoft Azure Administrator), but is a fairly different exam in a few ways. The content of AZ-103 got reorganized and prioritized differently, so although everything this Azure Subscriptions and Resources training covers is still important, the exams address resource monitoring and management in different ways.

Is the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate certification still valid?

Yes, the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate is still valid. If you earned it by passing the AZ-103 before August 31, 2020, you still have a valid certificate, but you'll need to prepare for a different exam to renew it. The AZ-104 is now the certifying exam for earning the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate. The underlying exam has changed, but the certification is still valid.

Is this Azure Subscriptions and Resources training still valuable?

Yes, even though the AZ-103 has been retired and replaced with AZ-104 and this Azure Subscriptions and Resources training relates more to AZ-103 than AZ-104, it's still valuable training. If you need to pass the AZ-104, there are other courses to help, but if you only need to know how to monitor resource usage and billing accounts, this training is valuable because it shows you how to take responsibility for that on your own.

Is the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate worth it?

Yes, for most people the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate is worth it. It's an especially good certificate for administrators who are just starting their careers. Azure might do a lot of the networking, compute and storage work for you, but companies still need someone to monitor and configure the resources. Additionally, the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate is worth it purely because of how many companies rely on Microsoft Azure.
