Think guys are the only hardcore gamers out there? Think again. A recent study by the Entertainment Software Association found that more adult women than boys (18 and younger) play video games!
With that in mind, it’s not that surprising more women are getting jobs in the video game industry. However, many of those jobs are on the design side, not the technical. This Dice article examines the situation more in detail. Considering the increasing number of women who enjoy video games, it seems like a no-brainer for gaming companies to change that trend.
Adding more female perspective in game design could result in more games that are appealing to all users. One of the most popular video game franchises (which even led to a movie starring Angelina Jolie) is Laura Croft: Tomb Raider.
