CBT Nuggets trainer Anthony Sequeira just released his new Identity with Windows Server 2016 (Exam 70-742) course as part of your preparation for the Microsoft MCSA: Windows Server 2016 certification. Anthony developed hands-on labs to accompany the video training, giving you the hands-on experience and practice you need for real-world success.
In this 42-video course, Anthony explores Active Directory, PowerShell, Group Policy, and the implementation of identity federation and access solutions — just to name a few of the critical components of the course. Anthony’s course prepares you for the 70-742 exam, one of three required to earn the Microsoft MCSA: Windows Server 2016 certification.
We asked Anthony about his new course and what you can expect during your CBT Nuggets Learning Experience.
Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals on Windows Server 2016? What value does Server 2016 bring to an organization and the IT pro? Close to 90 percent of the server OS market share belongs to various versions of Microsoft Windows Server. This course is critical for organizations making the move to the latest version of this important OS.
Q: From a learner perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course? I wanted to create a Hands-on Lab experience for every Nugget possible. Mission accomplished! Ninety-five percent of all my Nuggets feature a Hands-on Lab experience.
Q: Any out-of-the-box tips for learners to get the most out of your course? Be sure to do the labs, at some point. Even if you must do this at a later time from actually watching the Nuggets. There’s just no beating hands-on experience to make sure you’re really understanding the material.
Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create in this course?
My favorite Nugget to create was the Nugget on cloning AD domain controllers. This was a very challenging Nugget to create and it teaches a concept that many network admins will be very interested in, given the predominance of virtualization in today’s server environments.
Q: What’s the most important thing you hope learners take away from this course? That Windows Server 2016 Active Directory is a fun and exciting discipline.
Q: What course(s) or certification(s) should learners complete before diving into your Identity with Windows Server 2016 (Exam 70-742) course? Learners should have an MTA or the equivalent knowledge before starting on the MCSA: Windows Server 2016 certification path. For those who are brand new to the industry, consider starting with the CompTIA A+ and/or Network+ to build a solid foundation for your Windows Server 2016 training.
Q: What course(s) or certification(s) should learners look to jump into after they complete your Windows Server 2016 course? Learners can use this course to help with their popular MCSA and MCSE certifications from Microsoft. And learners should look at Keith Barker’s Networking with Windows Server 2016 (Exam 70-741) if they are looking to earn certification.
Q: Some of our learners find it difficult to sustain their training momentum. What advice would you offer learners who hit that particular obstacle? How can they keep their motivation to train? Just be sure to make a plan for completing the Nuggets and the labs. Write your plan down. Stick to it each day and build momentum. I also include a study tracker for the students in the Supplemental Files. Be sure to use that resource!
Q: It may surprise some to learn that you’re a big poker player. How do your skills as a poker player translate or connect to your experience as a trainer? Is Windows Server 2016 a royal flush as a Microsoft product? Is there anything about Server 2016 that you would consider the Joker of the deck? LOL! Patience is a must in successful poker play, and sometimes, patience is required with Windows Server 2016, especially considering that many of the new features are currently under-documented. I took great pains to be patient and thoroughly research new topics for the learners, especially in areas where existing documentation was either non-existent or worse, inaccurate.
