CompTIA’s New Cybersecurity Analyst+ Certification

CompTIA launched a new certification today! The new Cybersecurity Analyst+ (CySA+) certification takes an analytics-based approach to IT security. The new certification seeks to affirm your skills to:

  • Configure and use threat detection tools;
  • Perform data analysis;
  • Interpret the results to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and risks to an organization.

The new certification is designed as the next step for ITsec pros in a certification progression after they complete the Security+. The resulting certification pathway that CompTIA recommends is:

  1. CompTIA Network+
    Entry-level certification with no formal prerequisites, but recommended 9+ months of networking experience and the CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent knowledge. Learn more about the certification in our Roadmap to Success: CompTIA Network+.
  2. CompTIA Security+
    Entry-level certification with no formal prerequisites, but recommended 2+ years of IT administration experience and the CompTIA Network+ certification or equivalent knowledge. Learn more about the certification in our Roadmap to Success: CompTIA Security+.
  3. CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst+ (CySA+)
    Intermediate-level certification with no formal prerequisites, but recommended 3-4 years of information security or related experience, as well as the CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ certifications or equivalent knowledge.
  4. CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP)
    Advanced-level certification with no formal prerequisites, but recommended 10+ years of experience and the CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst+ (CySA+) certification or equivalent knowledge.

    Hi any updates on this one ? 😀

  2. cbtnuggets says:

    We have been polling and doing some market research for this course among others to help plan out our pipeline. There are still some additional information we are going through to see where this course will end up among other top certifications. I hope this helps and happy training! -Adam

  3. Bruno Paulo says:

    Hi! Almost a month has passed. Are you guys still considering releasing the training for the CS0-001?

  4. cbtnuggets says:

    Great question! We have it planned to be started this year. It’s hard to say exactly what the timeline is right now because we have one or possibly two courses ahead of it, but it is planned to be done. Thank you for your patience. I hope this helps and happy training! -Adam

  5. Ravi Manek says:

    Thanks for the update 🙂 Im quite keen on studying for the Security+ , are you able to advise on some additional study material ? There are so many books out there bit confusing :S

  6. cbtnuggets says:

    I know what you mean with some of the material being a bit confusing. Most of the time, when I’m trying to find a good book I tend to lean more off of the reviews from Amazon. While taking everything with a grain of salt I think the Sybex ones are good. Also, check out the approved list by CompTIA. I hope this helps and happy training! -Adam

  7. Karl King says:

    Hi, just thought I’d give this thread a quick nudge. I am looking at cracking this exam soon, any news?

  8. cbtnuggets says:

    Hi Karl,
    Thank you for your interest! We have it near the top of our list for courses to be completed this year. We have a few courses ahead of it we will need to complete first. After that, we will work on the CSA+. I hope this helps and thank you for your patiences. Happy training! -Adam

  9. Steven Osvatics says:

    Thank you for publishing the first two domains for the CSA+. Any ETA on the other two? I’m debating whether I should renew my Sec+(expries March 2018) with Comptia’s renewal videos($175) or renew by passing the CSA+. Thanks!

  10. cbtnuggets says:

    Hi there! Keith will continue to work on the remaining domains for the CSA+. We don’t have a completion date for the other domains, but he should be done with the next one by mid January. Now that the holidays are over, it might go a little bit faster. I hope this helps. Happy training! -Adam
