Using Certificates of Completion to Motivate Your Team

compcerts_FEATURED

CBT Nuggets Certificates of Completion are a great way for learners to prove that they’ve successfully completed a training course. Certificates also are a valuable tool for managers to track their team’s progress.

For team training managers, certificates of completion are a concrete way to validate a team’s training progress, providing easy-to-quantify benchmarks.

As mentioned in our blog post earlier this week, an effective training program starts with establishing goals and ends with reporting progress, using the data from your training dashboard and advanced individualized metrics from accountability coaches.

Certificates enable you to quickly and easily identify all the courses individuals have completed (or not completed).

How does my team earn certificates of completion?

Your team members earn a certificate of completion every time they view a course in its entirety. CBT Nuggets provides you the ability to track a learner’s progress and record the minutes that they have watched from beginning to end.

Once they’ve viewed every course, the account will reflect the course’s completion and a printable PDF certificate of completion is generated.

How can I see each team member’s individual certificate of completion?

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner, click on your name.
  3. A drop-down menu will appear, click on My Account.
  4. Click on Certifications of Completion in the left-hand navigation pane.
  5. You then will see a list of courses that you’ve completed.
  6. Click on the PDF icon located to the right of any course to download, print, or save a certificate of completion.

What is listed on a certificate of completion?

Certificates of completion include:

  • Learner’s name
  • CBT Nuggets course titled completed
  • Length of completed course
  • Completion date

What is the value of a CBT Nuggets certificate of completion?

A CBT certificate of completion isn’t an industry-approved certification, but it demonstrates that an employee is serious about training, as well as taking the steps necessary to validate his/her knowledge and skills.

For a team manager, completing courses can either be the end goal, or a step toward a larger goal (like a certification). Certificates mark an end to one training plan, so you can quickly transition your team to meeting their next training goal.

Be sure to remind your learners that certificates of completion are a great addition to a:

  • Resume
  • Personal website
  • Portfolio
  • Email signature
  • Social media profile

Because a person has to watch every minute of every video in a course to earn one, certificates prove commitment to learning and staying up to date on technologies, a must for any successful IT professional.
