Our resident Microsoft Office guru, Simona Millham, recently wrapped up her Microsoft Word 2016 training course. The 33-video training covers many of the features found in the latest version of the popular software that can enable users to do some really awesome things to documents. She covers using text, mail merge, and much more. This entry-level course is ideal for IT pros or office workers who frequently use Word.
We asked Simona to share her thoughts on the course, and how you can get the most out of her training!
Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in this technology? What value does it bring?
Users get stuck in a rut with how they use Microsoft Word, whether they’ve ever had training or not. There’s some really interesting functionality covered in this course and I’d urge any user to take a look, in order to uncover functionality they never knew they needed!
Q: From a learner perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course?
The reality is that many people may well be familiar with a version of Microsoft Word, so I wanted to keep it moving, keep it interesting for those users, while at the same time keeping it structured and clear enough for users new to Word to work through too.
Q: Any out-of-the-box tips for learners to get the most out of your course?
Download the NuggetLab files and try out the features with me! I’d just love that!
Q: What’s one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course?
Being able to create more professional documents, without pulling your hair out in frustration!
Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create?
Using Word on Multiple Devices (the last video in the course). How fabulous to not be tied to your work computer in order to work on your documents. Edit documents on an iPad? Don’t mind if I do!
Q: What’s the one thing you hope learners take away from this training?
Word has a reputation for being a bit boring… “just a word processor,” but, my goodness, this course will show you some new possibilities!
