CBT Nuggets trainer and Google Developer Expert Garth Schulte recently completed his Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Fundamentals course where he walks learners through GCP’s modular cloud-based services, enabling you to to build applications. Garth put together a great course that includes presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on labs to help ensure you get everything you can out of the learning experience. Some of the topics Garth covers include APIs Explorer and OAuth 2.0 Playground, Google Compute Engine, Google Cloud Storage, Google Cloud SQL, Google BigQuery, and more.
We asked Garth to tell us more about his latest course.
Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in this technology? What value does it bring?
Google Cloud Platform is enabling teams to do more with less! It’s diverse, with products and services spanning every IT category imaginable. It’s powerful, built on the same hardware, software, and network infrastructure Google uses to power the world’s biggest applications. It’s also accessible to everyone, from personal use to small businesses to enterprise companies. GCP is transforming development and operations teams into more productive, agile, and versatile ninjas.
Q: From a learner perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course?
CP100 is the ground level and prerequisite for all future GCP role-based training. Our mission with this course is giving learners a solid foundation by providing a balanced diet of product overviews, concepts, demonstrations, and hands-on labs to prepare them for the next level.
Q: Any out-of-the-box tips for learners to get the most out of your course?
Try the labs out on your own, or do them with me in the lab Nuggets to get that crucial hands-on experience with GCP!
Q: What’s one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course?
This course will get you up to speed with all of the tools necessary to build and manage anything in Google Cloud Platform. Whether that be simple websites, hosted infrastructures, structured or unstructured data storage, containerized applications, or even big data solutions, you’ll see it all in CP100.
Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create?
I LOVE containers and all the benefits they bring to development and operations teams! Google Container Engine, or GKE, makes containerized applications easy to manage and scale with Docker and Kubernetes. So both of the GKE Nuggets (Google Container Engine and Lab: Getting Started with Container Engine) were my favorites as you get to see those hot topics and this awesome product in action with a real application in both Nuggets.
