Firewalls are essential to keeping networks safe from threats. Start learning how to configure and implement a Palo Alto Network firewall with Keith Barker’s new course, Palo Alto Network Firewall. During the 47-video course, Keith covers essential topics such as configuring PAT, URL filtering, dynamic routing, and much more.
Keith recently discussed his new course and shared how you can get the most out of his training.
Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in this technology? What value does it bring?
The firewall from Palo Alto Networks is one of the best firewalls on the market. This course will assists students in learning how to quickly get the firewall up and running in a network. It also covers and demonstrates how to implement many of the advanced features offered by the firewall.
Q: From a student perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course?
The course is designed to reduce the learning curve for a technician or engineer who wants to learn about this firewall. I specifically demonstrate all the behind-the-scenes activities that will enable learners to build their own lab.
Q: Any out-of-the-box tips for students to get the most out of your course?
If a student doesn’t have a license for the Palo Alto firewall, but has the .ova (virtual machine image), many of the labs demonstrated in this course can still be practiced. Practicing everything that is possible will help reinforce concepts and build skills that can be useful in a production network.
Q: What’s one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course?
SSL Decryption, which allows inspection of HTTPS traffic even though it is normally encrypted as it goes through a firewall.
Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create?
I liked the creative integration of GNS3 with the Palo Alto firewall to demonstrate sub-interfaces and trunking.
Q: What’s the ONE thing you hope learners take away from this training?
A comfort level in deploying and doing the initial configuration of a Palo Alto Networks firewall.
