Does auditing interest you? Are you already in charge of auditing your organizations IT and business services? Sharpen your ability to control, monitor, assess, and of course, audit services with Steve Caseley’s new “ISACA CISA” training course, which also prepares learners to take the CISA certification exam. During the 12-hour course, Steve covers topics such as audit standards, process optimization, data backup, and more.
We caught up with Steve to get his thoughts on his latest course and how YOU can get the most out of it!
Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in this technology? What value does it bring?
CISA audits are a critical function for any organization, as to ensure that IT services are being properly delivered based on industry best practices.
Q: From a student-perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course?
As a CICA auditor, your knowledge has to be very broad, covering the complete IT delivery spectrum, but doesn’t have to be deep. The single most important message in the course was to avoid going too deep
Q: Any out-of-the-box tips for students to get the most out of your course?
Take the course, validate their understanding of all the concepts, and then be prepared to look at other CBT courses where they feel they need additional details. CBT Nuggets has a lot of courses that a CISA auditor can watch to ensure they are comfortable in all areas they will be auditing.
Q: What’s one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course?
Handling evidence. As an auditor, we are expected to collect the facts to back up audit statements. These facts need to be gathered and handled with the precision of a criminal investigation.
Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create?
I liked the overview Nugget where I was able to first show off Amber’s (CBT Nuggets resident illustrator) terrific drawings. I had one drawing for each knowledge domain which I used in this overview Nugget and then reused in the detailed Nuggets that followed.
Q: What roadblocks did you come across when creating this training and how did you overcome them?
The biggest roadblock was to keep the Nuggets at the right level of detail: Deep enough to ensure they understood the audit requirements without going so deep that I was repeating a Keith or Jeremy Nugget on network design.
Q: What’s the ONE thing you hope learners take away from this training?
That CISA auditing is a lot of fun and that it can be a tremendous benefit to any organization.
