New: Cisco CCNP R&S 300-135 TSHOOT

Good news troubleshooting fans! Jeremy Cioara recently completed his “Cisco CCNP Routing/Switching 300-135 TSHOOT” course. During the 4-hour course, Jeremy covers how to troubleshoot various technologies such as VLANs, spanning tree protocol, and much more. This course also prepares learners to take Cisco’s 300-135 exam, a qualifying exam for earning CCNP R&S certification!email-blog_csco_rs_300_135_tshoot

We caught up with Jeremy to get his thoughts on the course, and how learners can get the most out of it!

Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in this technology? What value does it bring?
The TSHOOT series goes beyond learning the core concepts and configurations presented in the initial two CCNP Exams (ROUTE & SWITCH), and into actual application and troubleshooting of the technology. There are always three levels of learning: concept, configure, and troubleshoot. The TSHOOT series focuses entirely on the final stage.

Q: From a student-perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course?
I knew students would still be “fresh” from learning many new technologies through the CCNA, ROUTE and SWITCH series. So, the approach I took in this course was to do a “fly-by review” of every topic discussed — and then do a deep dive into troubleshooting for those topics.

Q: Any outside-of-the-box tips for students to get the most out of your course?
There are actually THREE TSHOOT courses available to students. In addition to my latest course, here are the other two:

TSHOOT 1.0: Goes through troubleshooting scenarios from NIL Labs, and features me having a “camera on his shoulder” facing the scenarios blind/devoid of prep.

TSHOOT 2.0 LabsGNS3-based troubleshooting adventure for students to experience themselves, featuring Keith Barker.

All three are valid preparation resources and should be used for this exam!

Q: What’s one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course?
Learning the ability to think through troubleshooting scenarios methodically, using a systematic approach.

Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create?
Foundations: Preventing Troubleshooting with Proactive Network Maintenance. This Nugget shows the heart of doing things right when you are approaching network architecture/troubleshooting as a whole.

Q: What roadblocks did you come across when creating this training and how did you overcome them?
The mindset that it is “impossible to teach someone troubleshooting.” It can be difficult to do this in a prescribed setting. However, going out of the box (see answer to out-of-the-box question earlier) allows us to DELIVER troubleshooting concepts AND the experience to students in CBTN-style!

Q: What’s the ONE thing you hope learners take away from this training?
Far more than the concepts of troubleshooting… the EXPERIENCE of troubleshooting.
