New Course: Microsoft Office 365 70-347

Blog_msft_70_347Brian Alderman just completed his Microsoft Office 365 70-347 course. In 43 videos, he covers the steps necessary to plan, deploy, configure, and manage Office 365 Services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Lync Online. This course also covers how to automate the management of these services using PowerShell, so you can script tasks. And, it prepares you for Microsoft’s 70-347 exam.

We recently talked to Brian to find out a bit more about what this course has to offer and his tips for conquering this technology.

Q: Why should companies train their IT professionals in this technology?
The cloud, and in this case Office 365, has become a big wave for the IT industry. This course will help you understand how to migrate and support your organization in Office 365, and/or how to implement a hybrid scenario of both on-premises and Office 365 for SharePoint, Exchange, and Lync.

Q: From a student-perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course?
The knowledge you’ll need to migrate and support an Office 365 environment, along with some caveats in doing so.

Q: Any outside-of-the-box tips for students to get the most out of your course?
Review the content in the course, and subscribe to a E3 (FREE) trial program to practice the steps discussed in this 70-347, and the 70-346 course.

Q: What’s one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course?
A successful migration and management from an on-premises SharePoint, Exchange, and Lync environment to Office 365. Or if choosing to do so, the management knowledge for an on-premises and Office 365 hybrid implementation.

Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create?
Hmmm, tough question. I had a fun time talking about Arizona in the Configuring Transport Rules Nugget.

Q: What roadblocks did you come across when creating this training and how did you overcome them?
The biggest roadblock was the fact that Microsoft changes the features, functionality, and even the cosmetics of Office 365 services. I had to check to be sure items didn’t change too drastically before I talked about them. Often they were just name changes, but you gotta be sure before your start a lengthy recorded walk-through.

Q: What’s the ONE thing you hope learners take away from this training?
Confidence! Confidence that they can manage their Office 365 environment, and if interested in doing so (and with some hands-on practice), pass the 70-347 exam.
