Want to reinforce your Cisco knowledge and skills? Then Anthony Sequeira’s newest course, “Cisco Virtual Internet Routing Lab (VIRL)” is aimed at you! The 20-video, 3 hour course covers the ins and outs of the platform that emulates various Cisco networking technologies. Topics Anthony covers include installing VIRL, creating topologies, and more.
Q: What was your favorite Nugget to create?
What is VIRL was my favorite Nugget to create. It was so fun to show off what the product can do, and to educate anyone that might be a bit foggy on the subject of what the product exactly is and what it can do.
Q: What roadblocks did you come across when creating this training and how did you overcome them?
The documentation from Cisco is based on an earlier version of the product and is filled with many errors that I needed to work around. I read more in the VIRL forums than I care to remember. 🙂
Q: From a student-perspective, what did you keep in mind when creating this course?
Students want to be up and running with the product after their purchase as soon as humanly possible. I made sure to be succinct with this course and meet that objective.
Q: Any outside-of-the-box tips for students to get the most out of your course?
This is really a course where they can follow along step by step. Remember the pause button in the CBT Nuggets video player.
Q: What’s one real-world application someone can expect to use, thanks to this course?
After some pain during the installation process, students can be up and running modeling real-world networks very quickly. In fact, more quickly than with any other simulator or emulator that I have seen.
