Health care for the needy. Assistance for domestic abuse victims. Enriching lives of people with developmental disabilities.
Those are just several of the wonderful causes that our NuggetLOVE charity initiative supported this year.
As of December 22, (our December NuggetLOVE donation won’t be finalized until January), we donated nearly $113,000 to local nonprofit organizations in 2014. It really is “we,” because NuggetLOVE is driven by CBT Nuggets supporters too: We donate 1 percent of our revenue from the first five business days of the month. In addition, we match all donations the charity receives that month, up to $5,000.
Since NuggetLOVE was established in April 2012, CBT Nuggets has partnered with more than 30 nonprofits and donated more than $323,000 to these organizations. And our involvement goes beyond donating large checks: CBT Nuggets team members often volunteer at NuggetLOVE charities, attend fundraisers, and get involved in other ways.
This past year has been especially memorable. NuggetLOVE was recognized by our senator’s office for supporting South Willamette Honor Flight, an organization that transports WWII veterans to Washington D.C. to visit their memorials. During the past two years, we’ve donated $55,000 to Honor Flight, which has funded trips for 50 veterans. We’ve also had team members travel with Honor Flight as volunteers. Recently, Steve Barth, our videographer, accompanied an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to film a documentary. His feature-length film, “Forgotten Heroes: A Honor Flight Story,” was screened locally in November. So far, the film raised more than $6,000 for Honor Flight.
It’s an amazing feeling to be able to make a difference in our community. We couldn’t do it without your support. Thank you — and we look forward to making an even bigger impact in 2015!
