Facebook is making waves again.
On the heels of purchasing popular social media app Whatsapp earlier this year, the social media giant announced Tuesday that it’s purchasing Oculus, the maker of a highly-anticipated virtual reality headset. Here are more details.
The big question is, what does Facebook plan to do with Oculus? Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s statement about the purchase was pretty vague about the company’s plans for the technology. Obviously, the company aims to take social media to another level. But how does virtual reality fit in?
Let the speculation begin! Wouldn’t it be awesome is someday you could “be right there” when your friend posts that he/she is on the beach, or when your parents bring home that new basset hound, or when your niece takes her first steps? There are a lot of possibilities when it comes to virtual reality.
Overall, it seems like Facebook’s move could help us connect with our loved ones and friends more easily, depending how they choose to move forward with Oculus…
What do you think? How would you like Facebook to utilize Oculus technology?
