Spend a few minutes chatting with Anthony Sequeira and you’ll quickly learn why the CBT Nuggets trainer is excited about Cisco data center technology.
“It’s the immediate near future of IT,” Anthony said. “It’s so exciting to be tracking to the future.”
He said that he was inspired to help people understand the ins and outs of data center technology after doing some research. He was impressed by its far-reaching potential.
“What I discovered was that data center covers all sizes of companies, large or small,” Anthony said. “Any company that uses multiple servers could benefit from data center.”
Anthony created CBT Nuggets’ “Cisco CCNA Data Center 640-911 DCICN” and “Cisco CCNA Data Center 640-916 DCICT” courses, both of which prepare students for the two exams that must be passed to earn CCNA Data Center certification.
Anthony said that he understands why companies might shy away from investing in data center technology — it’s not cheap. But he said that power outages, equipment failures — among other things can prove just as or even more costly to businesses.
That’s why he said that it’s worth spending a little more upfront to invest in data center technology. He said that it could help companies handle IT disasters more efficiently.
Anthony said that his biggest challenge isn’t getting students to pass the two exams required for the CCNA Data Center certification. Rather, he wants to make sure they fully understand data center technology.
“This is really cutting-edge technology,” he said. “It’s so exciting.”
So what’s his advice to people already learning about data center technology, or who are interested in learning more about it?
Anthony said that he has seen three major IT shifts occur since he got into IT: mainframe technology (1980s), data client servers (1990s and 2000s), and now virtualization. As a result, he’s always soaking up information on different technologies.
“(You) just need to be ready to learn brand new concepts,” Anthony said. “Learn the future.”
