Happy New Year from CBT Nuggets! We’ve had a fantastic 2012 and are looking forward to what 2013 will bring. Here’s a look at what’s new from the past month.
New Trainers Join CBT Nuggets
Two excellent trainers have joined Team CBT.
Anthony Sequeira is a well-known and highly respected name in the Cisco world, as a trainer, author, and speaker. He is currently working towards his second (Wireless), third (Security) and fourth (Data Center) CCIEs. Anthony has already made a CCDA MicroNugget and is working on videos for a full CCDA series.
Jim Anthony will be creating CBT Nuggets’ first mobile-specific training series! Jim has Network+ and Apple MTC certifications. He has years of experience working for major IT vendors and is the founder of a consulting company, Mobile Virtuosity. Jim has done a MicroNugget on Evernote and is working on a full series on the app.
We are very excited to bring you training from both Anthony and Jim.
Take the Latte Challenge
Last month, our CEO auctioned off a 65″ TV to the highest bidder. But instead of money, employees bid their latte-making services. The winner was Craigen, a Nugget Training Advisor, who agreed to make 183 lattes for our CEO. That’s one latte a day for roughly six months!
Here’s the challenge: Guess the date Craigen will finish making the lattes (he’s got 132 left). You can enter your guess until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Dec. 31.
The closest person to the guessing the finish date wins Nugget swag, so enter now!
Rules: One entry per person. Entry closest to the correct date wins. In the event of a tie, the winner will be awarded to the person who entered the date first. Hint: read through the entries to see if anyone has claimed the date!

New Series Released
PowerShell Toolmaking and Scripting: In this series, trainer and PowerShell guru Don Jones shows you how to build reusable tools that look, feel, smell, and taste just like “real” PowerShell commands – all with a minimum of programming.
This training builds on fundamental PowerShell knowledge with an emphasis on real-world usage, so Don recommends completing his “PowerShell Foundations” series as a prerequisite to “Toolmaking and Scripting.”
Microsoft 70-415 MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure: Veteran CBT Nuggets instructor and Microsoft MVP Greg Shields created this series, in which you’ll learn how you can automate Windows installation and your entire desktop infrastructure.
If you’re an IT Desktop Administrator looking to eliminate the manual scut work from your everyday life, or are ready to prove your skills by attaining the MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure, then don’t miss this series.
Juniper Networks Certified Specialist Security (JNCIS-SEC): Learn about about Juniper security technology and the Junos software for SRX series devices with trainer and security expert Michael J. Shannon.
From basic UTM to IPSec VPNs, high availability clustering options, and more, this training series will get you up-to-speed on Juniper security–and get you ready to pass the JN0-332 exam.
NuggetLOVE Makes the Season Bright
This month, we shared the NuggetLOVE with Eugene Mission. We were able to give the mission a check for $7,768 to help them continue to provide food, shelter, and clothing to those in need.
We also held a company toy drive to collect items for Toys for Tots. Though not an official NuggetLOVE project, most people couldn’t resist the chance to go toy shopping. We had quite the toy collection by the time we were done, and were able to make a very happy delivery to Toys for Tots.
This was the inaugural year of our NuggetLOVE initiative, and so far we’ve donated nearly $80,000 to area non-profits. We’ve had a wonderful time with this program and look forward to sharing more NuggetLOVE in 2013!
Check your email much? Yes, you do! Last month, we asked how often you check your email. More than 50% of you check every time you get a notification. Another 17% only check every two hours or so. And NONE of you said you check less than once a day!
This month, tell us: What’s your 2013 training resolution?
